Foxconn pointed out in a recent report to the Taiwan Stock Exchange that they did not intend to acquire LED manufacturer Dongbei Optoelectronics.
LED-backlit LCD TVs will be Foxconn's key development projects in the future. Previously, rumors have been called to accelerate the integration of TV industry. Foxconn intends to acquire Taiwan LED chip manufacturers.
Dongbei Optoelectronics currently supplies blue LED chips for Foxconn's Advanced Opto electronic Technology, while AOT is the upstream manufacturer of another Foxconn subsidiary. Related news, UMC intends to join hands with LED chip makers Jingyuan Optoelectronics and Yuyuan Optoelectronics to seek more shares in the mainland market. UMC currently holds certain shares of the two manufacturers. It is expected that the mainland will become the world's third largest LED lighting market in 2015.
