The plan for electric car manufacturer BYD to launch London's first all-electric taxi team was frustrated. The British company decided not to cooperate with BYD and instead took over by another company. This is the largest electric car trade in British history.
According to "British Daily Telegraph" reported on Monday, Greentomatocars, the second largest taxi service provider in London, said that the two sides "could jointly decide to stop cooperation," but did not disclose the specific reasons. Green Tomato Taxi said it will continue its zero-emissions program and prepare to test a fuel cell vehicle for Hyundai.
Last year, there were rumors that the charging facilities in London were incomplete, which made the taxis unable to get on the road on time.
BYD has delivered 20 E6 cars to Green Tomato, which will then be picked up by another operator, Thriev. Thriev has built two fast charging stations in London that can fully power the BYD E6 in two hours. According to BYD, the E6 will last 186 miles after charging, which is much higher than the 124-mile Nissan Leaf in the London market.
