Today, I encountered an issue with a Sharp LCD model LCD-32NX155A where the indicator light was off and the screen wouldn't turn on. After disassembling the unit, I checked the fuse and found it intact. The large filter capacitor on the power board showed 320V, but when I tested the power supply to the motherboard, there was 0V. I disconnected the power board from the motherboard and found that the power board itself had no short circuit, but the motherboard did.
To narrow down the problem, I focused on the circuit between the power supply and ground on the motherboard. I removed three chip capacitors and found one of them was shorted. That was the main issue. After replacing the faulty capacitor with a similar one (around 500nF) from another broken board, the power to the motherboard returned to 12.3V, and the TV worked again.
One thing I noticed is that many components in this device didn’t have standard markings or sockets, which made the repair a bit tricky. I came across an online guide on Taobao that suggested fixing the issue for just 30 yuan by replacing a small component — it turned out to be the same chip capacitor I replaced.
I'm sharing my experience here in hopes that it might help others facing similar issues. Thanks for reading and supporting my work!
