Recently, Guoxing Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. (002449, SZ), the largest domestic display device manufacturer, has announced the launch of a black light 1010 for small pitch, with a monthly capacity of 200kk. It has become the first manufacturer of the smallest display device in the mainland. .

As the problem of light pollution in display screens has been mentioned in a large number of years and received the attention of relevant governments, many urban management and environmental protection departments have begun to supervise public display screens. In the future, the point of approval for the growth of the outdoor display market will become more and more difficult. Many display manufacturers have begun to turn their attention to the interior.

The requirements for pixels in the indoor display have been significantly improved. The P3 and P4 that were previously pushed have been developed to the P2 or even smaller spacing. As the dot pitch becomes smaller and smaller, the number of devices required increases several times. For example, the P4 display that was previously introduced mainly requires only 62,500 pixels per square meter, while today's P1.2 requires 694,400 pixels, which is almost 10 times that of P4.

Faced with new market segments, most domestic packaging manufacturers are still mostly on the sidelines.

Lei Zihe, deputy general manager of Guoxing Optoelectronics and general manager of RGB Devices Division, said that small-pitch devices have high technical requirements. Guoxing Optoelectronics currently has three small-pitch devices, the most mature of which is the first small-sized device in mainland China launched in 2009. In 2012, it launched a higher-density 1515 device, which is the latest in the world's packaging plants. Small TOP device.

Based on the successful experience of 2020 and 1515 and the technology precipitation of Guoxing Optoelectronics in the CHIP type packaging for more than ten years, Guoxing Optoelectronics began to develop the 1010 high-density small-sized device of CHIP type package in 2012, after one or two years of research and development and market. Inspection, now 1010 has formed mass production.

Prior to this, the domestic display leading company Liard (300296.SZ) had found several domestic packaging manufacturers before the introduction of small-pitch LED TVs, but in the end only Taiwan Everlight Electronics is willing to cooperate.

"Liyad also looked for us at the time, but we did not cooperate to evaluate it." A person in charge of a display packaging manufacturer in Shenzhen said that the idea at the time was that the price of high-density displays was too high and could not be popularized in the short term. Small-pitch devices need to be upgraded to cleanrooms. In addition, companies need long-term investment in technology research and development, and manufacturing and quality control requirements are likely to result in lower yields in the early stages. “Under the premise that the quantity does not come up, the return on investment of the company may be longer.”

The widespread cautious estimates of package manufacturers have not affected the rapid growth in demand for small-pitch display markets.

According to the 2013 performance forecast released by Liard, the net profit attributable to listed companies in FY13 is estimated to be 77.42 million yuan - 83.24 million yuan, up 33% -43% year-on-year. Among them, the company's LED small-pitch TV orders nearly 330 million yuan, an increase of about 65% over the same period last year.

Wu Meng, director of LED display market at Chau Ming Technology (300232.SZ), said that there will be a big outbreak in the small-pitch (high-density) display market in 2014. In 2013, the market size of the small-pitch display is expected to be 400-500 million yuan. In 2014, it is expected to increase by more than three times, reaching a market scale of 2 billion yuan.

Lei Zihe believes that Guoxing Optoelectronics is also very optimistic about the small-pitch display market. As the scale of mass production continues to increase, the cost will be greatly reduced. According to the representative of the current small-pitch display device 2121, the annual cost is reduced by at least 20%, and the cost of 0603 as a CHIP type package is also decreasing. 1010 is down at least 20% annually.

Previously, the exclusive market share of LCDs, such as hotels, supermarket chains, terminal buildings, automotive 4S stores and even more, will become a new application market for small-pitch displays.
