According to KSAT reports, the wedding ceremony of a pair of American couples was shot with a 360-lens camera. Daniel and Ilana married in Guatemala City at the beginning of the year when the couple wanted to create a capsule for time and space and could later revisit that day.
“When we planned a wedding, we needed something to record everything on this day and we could revisit it many times after we got married,†said Daniel.
So they asked the start-up company YouVisit to take a VR wedding. From time to time, the newly-married couples would have to go to VR to re-walk the carpet.
“My wife has seen it many times and once we cried once. Every time we look at it, we notice something that was previously ignored, because that moment is over.â€
YouVisit has produced more than 1,000 interactive VR experiences, from music festivals to theatrical performances to corporate events. Although YouVisit shoots a custom VR experience that is expensive (starting at $10,000), the company offers the Experience Builder platform that allows users to create their own VR experience for free by uploading 360-degree photos and videos.
Daniel and Ilana's wedding VR experience lasted 2-3 months from conception to final editing. The couple not only showed the video to their friends and family who were not on the scene, but also hoped to see it for their children one day.
The couple reduced their budget for VR weddings. For example, the floral arrangement is shared with other people's weddings nearby. Although shooting a VR wedding may not be a priority for couples, especially when the budget is limited, Daniel feels that the day itself is more important than luxury spending.
