Vishay Introduces Two Transmissive Optical Sensors TCUT1630x01 and TCUT1800x01 for Automotive and Industrial Applications

On April 20, 2018, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced the launch of two AEC-Q101-certified transmissive light sensors, the TCUT1630x01 and TCUT1800x01, for automotive and industrial applications. The Vishay Semiconductors TCUT1630x01 and TCUT1800x01 are available in a small 5.5mm x 5.85mm x 7mm package and are the industry's first 3-channel and 4-channel transmissive sensors.

The 3-channel TCUT1630x01 contains an infrared emitter and three photocell detectors. The emitter and detector are placed directly in a surface mount package. The device's package structure is higher than the previous generation device, and it has vertical push-pull switches and index resolution functions, so it is very suitable for spinning code. The 4-channel TCUT1800x01 contains 2 infrared emitters and 4 photosensor detectors, detecting up to 16 positions for absolute or incremental encoding.

Released on the 20th, the sensor detects motion, speed, and direction. It can be used as an encoder near the engine in high-temperature environments, as well as position sensors for internal knobs, ignition locks, adaptive headlamps, and EPS systems. In industrial applications, these devices are ideal for monitoring gas and water meters, detecting the status of doors and panels, and detecting coin insertion or card insertion.

The TCUT1630x01 and TCUT1800x01 have a typical output current of 1.3A and an operating wavelength of 950nm. The gap width of the optical sensor is 3mm, the aperture is 0.3mm, and the operating temperature is -40°C to +105°C. The TCUT1630x01 and TCUT1800x01 have a moisture sensitivity level of 1 (MSL1) and can be stored in the workshop for long periods of time. The device is compatible with the JEDEC-STD-020D standard reflow process and is RoHS and Vishay green and halogen-free.

Photosensors are now sampling and have been in volume production, with lead times of eight to ten weeks for larger orders.
