Fast-growing LED backlight market

DisplayBank, a Korean display market organization, estimates that the global LED market will grow by an average of 26% per year from 2008 to 2013. Among them, the panel backlight and lighting market grew by an average of 121% and 52% respectively.

According to isplayBank, Samsung and LG have recently made large-scale strategic investments to improve the competitiveness of the LED industry in response to the vertical integration of LED chips and packaging into LED downstream applications.

DisplayBank said that in order to reduce costs, the industry has adopted the LED backlight module to simplify the design, and try to design a single-sided two-sided or single-sided single-side light-emitting design.
