With the advent of the universal digital media processor DM642, digital network cameras are more integrated and can support real-time H.264, and have integrated video and Ethernet interfaces. The contribution of DM642 to digital video surveillance is epoch-making. Its success is not only in network cameras, but also in digital video servers, video compression cards, and embedded hard disk recorders.

The continued innovation of the image SOC is integrated with the coprocessor on the core processing. It supports video enhancement after the image is supported. It is upgraded from ARM7 to ARM9 on the controller; from image to video function in front-end processing. At this point, the product is upgraded from DSC series to DM270 to DM320 and DM355.DM series is the meaning of Digital Media, which is digital media processor. This series not only supports JPEG static impact compression, but also supports MPEG-4 real-time processing, so it is already The ideal platform for digital cameras. The extended Ethernet interface of the device is a network camera, and the DM355 can support real-time MPEG-4 to achieve a resolution of 720P. Since this system has a video pre-processing subsystem VPSS, it can directly connect to the video sensor, and ISP processing is performed on the main chip. The possibility is to achieve a higher level of integration of the network camera.

Later, along the trajectory of DM642, there is a DM644x series called "Da Vinci", which integrates the SOC platform of ARM9, DSP and VPSS, so many H.264 products supporting D1 real-time migration to this platform to improve integration. Later, along the footprint of the DM355, there is DM365, the performance of 720P HD is unchanged, but it is already supporting H.264, and with the Ethernet interface, the front end is also a veritable ISP unit.
