IDEC's new building uses LED lighting to reduce electricity consumption by 41%

IDEC SALES OFFICE, a new building for LED Lighting completed on March 6, 2008, was released to the media on March 12 (Figure 1). In addition to indoor lighting in offices, corridors, conference rooms, exhibition rooms and toilets, LEDs are also used for lighting and outdoor lights in parking lots (Figure 2). Previously, there have been precedents for the use of LEDs for indoor lighting. "The construction of all Led Lighting is still the first in the world" (the company's representative director and president, Tochigi Junki). The new building has a floor area of approximately 2,378 m2. According to the Kashima construction calculations responsible for the design and construction, the total annual electricity consumption can be reduced by about 41% compared with the original lighting fixtures such as fluorescent lamps and incandescent lamps (Fig. 3).
