Synaptics launches ClearPad 3400 touchscreen solution for flagship smartphones

Shanghai, China – March 13, 2013 – SynapTIcs (Nasdaq: SYNA), the leading developer of human-machine interface solutions, today announced the launch of its ClearPad ™ 3400 high-performance capacitive touch screen solution for high-end smartphones . As high-end smartphone designs continue to break through more complex functions and higher-performance applications, from ultra-fast web browsing to a gaming experience with excellent handling performance, they must have extremely accurate touchscreen performance with minimal delay and noise interference. ClearPad 3400 can meet this demand. It is specifically designed for high-end smartphones with a display of up to six inches to achieve the smoothest and most accurate touch screen experience.

Based on the advantages of ClearPad 3200, ClearPad 3400 adopts redesigned analog front end (AFE), integrated charge pump and advanced filtering algorithm to achieve industry-leading signal-to-noise ratio and anti-noise performance. In particular, a series of factors such as mobile phone power supply with high noise will aggravate noise interference, but with the highest level of noise resistance, ClearPad 3400 can operate accurately even in environments with strong noise interference. ClearPad 3400's high signal-to-noise ratio and advanced algorithms can also ensure accurate multi-touch performance in various other situations (such as the presence of moisture or fingers wearing gloves).

OEMs are also seeking more flexible input options for consumers. SynapTIcs ClearPad 3400 can automatically recognize the operation of stylus, gloves and fingers at the same time, and can support 2mm passive stylus for automatic recognition and precise positioning.

SynapTIcs world-class global engineering technical support, industry-leading design tools and flexible delivery models all help simplify the process of using the market-leading ClearPad series of solutions. ClearPad 3400 supports various sensor stacking structures, enabling thinner designs and greater OEM design flexibility.

Kevin Barber, senior vice president and general manager of the Smart Display Division, said: "For consumers, the touch screen of a smartphone is an important point of interaction. As the complexity of the device continues to increase, the overall touch screen experience becomes more critical. With this critical consideration in mind, SynapTIcs built the ClearPad 3400 touchscreen solution. With the excellent performance of the ClearPad 3400, OEMs can confidently provide end users with the smoothest and most accurate touch experience available today. "
