iFixit disassembles iPhone 4S and says hardware is more powerful

Electronic product service company iFixit dismantled Apple’s fifth-generation iPhone, claiming that the phone uses chips from Qualcomm, Toshiba and other smaller semiconductor companies.

The iPhone 4S was launched in seven countries on Friday. Its appearance is similar to that of the iPhone 4, but with a new hardware configuration, faster processors, improved camera performance, and the "Siri" voice activated personal assistant function.

iPhone 4S sold more than one million units on the first day of pre-sales. This is the last product that Apple’s former CEO Steve Jobs released before his arrival and is expected to attract a large number of fans.

According to iFixit, which is known for its dismantling of Apple products, TriQuint, Skyworks Solutions and Avago Technologies all provide parts for the iPhone 4S.

iFixit claims that the iPhone 4S uses a Qualcomm chipset that is upgraded from the iPhone 4, and flash memory is provided by Toshiba.
