Texas Instruments (TI) announced two new video switches for digital video interface (DVI) or high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI). The new product enables designers to switch up to three ports on a single display terminal, which is the first in the industry, and is the first to introduce a single-chip for the two-to-one video switching application market. Five channel solution. Both switching devices offer significant savings in board space and overall system cost in digital TV, audio/video receivers, keyboards, video and mouse switches.

The TMDS341 is a three-port device that supports four Minimized Transmit Differential Signaling (TMDS) channels, one hot-swap detector, and one I2C interface for signal conditioning and switching. Each TMDS channel has a signaling rate of up to 1.65 Gbps. The TMDS341 provides 8 dB fixed input equalization and selectable 3 dB output de-emphasis to optimize system performance with DVI standard cables over 5 meters.

The TS3DV520 is a five-channel differential 2:1 multiplexer/demultiplexer digital video switch. The device converts one DVI or HDMI input port into two high-speed ports. The high bandwidth of 2.4 Gbps enables TMDS signal transmission rates of up to 1.65 Gbps per channel, meeting the needs of general DVI/HDMI applications. The TS3DV520 is controlled by a select input, which allows the user to easily integrate the device into a video application to meet the requirements of switching and rerouting signals between two video sources and one receiver.

TMDS341 Other Features · 3:1 DVI/HDMI Switch · Isolated Digital Display Control (DDC) bus for unused ports;
· Provide 5V tolerance for all DDC and HPD_SINK inputs;
· Integrated receiver terminal;
· Inter-Pair Output Skew below 200 ps;
· High impedance output when disabled;
· Over 3 kV human body model electrostatic protection;
· 3.3V working power supply.

TS3DV520 Key Features · 2:1 Five-Channel Differential Multiplexer for DVI/HDMI
· High bandwidth: 1.2 Ghz typical, 2.4 Gbps
• Low crosstalk: –27 dB typical • Very small time lag between bits: up to 0.2 ns
