Mankind's first space country preparation! Global recruits only 100,000 citizens

According to foreign media reports such as BBC News and Science, an international group of researchers, engineers, lawyers, and entrepreneurs who have gathered globally recently announced that they are preparing to establish the first human space country and use the gods of the Nordic mythology to guard the sky. Named after Asgardia, it aims to protect the planet from interstellar threats.

The project will start from August 2017 and launch the first satellite to launch next year. Now people can already register on their official website and the first 100,000 registrants will become Asgardia citizens.

Igor Ashurbeyli, project leader and founder of the International Research Center for Aeronautics and Astronautics, announced the "strange" plan at a press conference held in Paris. According to Ashurbeyli, “Asgardia is a mature and independent country and will become a member of the United Nations in the future. Its significance lies in the protection of peace in space and in preventing the spread of disputes on the earth into space.”

Prof. Ram Jakhu of McGill University in Canada stated that “When it comes to the management of outer space, humans need to establish a practical space law system. This will ensure that human exploration of space is in line with the principle of peaceful and sustainable development.”

It is understood that the team of aerospace experts behind Asgardia is from all over the world, including Canada, Romania, Russia and the United States. According to the plan, they will launch a robotic satellite within 18 months to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the ascension of humanity’s first satellite (made in Russia). Then Asgardia will build a permanent space station in space. Unlike the existing International Space Station ISS, Asgardia will exist as an independent country where people will live and work and establish their own regulations. Asgardia hopes to “spend democracy into space”.

In addition, scientists have an ultimate dream of establishing a human-made advanced Earth Guard to protect all living beings on Earth from the sky, including space debris, coronal mass ejections, and asteroid collisions. Wait.

However, according to speculation by the United States "Science" magazine, this project seems to be to avoid the "United Nations Outer Space Treaty" supervision. Because according to the requirements of this treaty, each country has the obligation to supervise any space activities initiated on its territory and is responsible for damage caused by launchers and satellites in space and anywhere on Earth.

In response, Foreign Media Business Insider has already asked the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) about the legitimacy of Asgardia, but has not yet received a reply. Currently, Asgardia has not yet been recognized by the United Nations and any country.

Although it seems that human beings are really setting foot on Asgardia, they still have a long way to go. However, this does not prevent us from registering and occupying a position. After all, dreams still need to happen.
