Japan: Stepping on the power generation floor to power the Christmas lights (Figure)

Power generation floor can be used to generate electricity when you step on it.

Christmas is coming, and Japanese researchers have created a new way to generate electricity for Christmas lighting. They laid four floor panels on the sidewalk of the busy Shibuya Railway Station in Tokyo. When a pedestrian steps over it, the panel can generate electricity. It is reported that on average, each person can get 0.5 watts of electricity by walking twice from a 45 square centimeter panel. At the same time, a sign is placed near the panel to show how much energy is stored. The panels will remain on the road until Christmas on December 25, when the total amount of electricity generated will be counted. This special power generation floor was developed by the Japanese company Soundpower. If the test is successful, the company will use it in large quantities.
