Samsung announced in 2011 that it will build a second 12-inch wafer fab in the Mainland, demonstrating the industry’s attitude to build a NAND flash supply chain in China in the future. Hynix currently plans to expand the Wuxi plant or build a 12-inch NAND flash memory fab.

According to survey statistics, Hynix's share of the global NAND flash memory market ranks third behind Samsung and Toshiba, and the fourth is U.S.-based Micron Semiconductor.

Previously there was statistical analysis that the use of NAND flash storage devices such as SSDs in Ultrabooks is expected to increase to 30% in the future.
