Fiber to the home means a qualitative leap in broadband network speed. In the past, China's telecom operators promoted fiber-to-the-home, which required struggling to balance various stakeholders such as property and developers. The "last mile" problem of "fiber-to-the-home" has become a major problem in broadband construction.
"When the broadband project rises to the national strategic level, optical fiber can be used as an important public infrastructure for households like water, electricity, and gas," said Shang Bing, deputy minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
According to Shang Bing, during the 12th Five-Year Plan period, China's optical fiber access network will cover commercial buildings and newly built communities. The urban household residential fiber access rate will exceed 60%. Urban and rural Internet access bandwidth capacity will basically reach 20 trillion and 4 trillion. Above, some developed cities have access to bandwidth of 100 megabytes, and the actual bandwidth used by users has increased significantly. At the same time, the 3G network will basically cover urban and rural areas to achieve continuous coverage of wireless broadband data service hotspot areas.
Since the beginning of this year, the pace of China's broadband construction has accelerated significantly. From May 1st, China Telecom officially launched the "lighting community" activity in 21 southern provinces and some northern provinces, and the speed of access to each home network can reach up to 100 trillion. Users can become China Telecom's optical broadband users by registering through China Telecom's online business hall. This broadband speedup and upgrade will continue until the end of 2012.

At the same time, China Telecom plans this year that the proportion of users using 4 trillion or more broadband products will exceed 50%, and 300,000 WiFi hotspots will be added throughout the year to reach 900,000. A more integrated information life
The State Council executive meeting also proposed to accelerate the deployment of the next generation Internet, focusing on research and development of key chips, equipment, software and systems for the next generation Internet to promote industrialization. Relevant departments will organize a summary evaluation of the implementation effect of the pilot areas, focusing on evaluating the implementation of the pilot business types, operating methods, supporting measures and so on. According to the situation of the pilot, on the basis of summarizing and evaluating, gradually expand the breadth and scope of the pilot, and promote the two-way entry of radio, television and telecommunications services. At the same time, it will improve relevant engineering standards and specifications, promote the joint construction and sharing of telecommunication network and radio and television network infrastructure, enhance the comprehensive benefits of the network, and guide the development of integrated services such as IPTV and mobile TV.
