The development of modern lighting products and lighting design are aimed at the scientific and rational use of energy. Taking full account of the modern building environment and lighting characteristics, pay attention to the core components of lighting appliances - the optimal design of electronic ballasts for lighting quality, maintenance costs, building safety, office staff work, student learning efficiency, instrumentation and equipment testing And it has a vital impact on the pollution of the power grid, personal injury, etc., and should be highly valued.
Today, China's lighting has become the overall situation of energy-saving lamps, and there is still a strong momentum to enter the home lighting. At the same time of rapid development, many problems have been exposed. Due to the late start of research and development of electronic ballasts in China, the starting point of technology is low, and the difficulty and complexity of this product are not well understood in the early stage. The development of special semiconductor devices has not kept up. The quality of the products is too low, and the market is extremely non-standard. A large number of low-priced and inferior goods are thrown to the market, causing losses to consumers and seriously damaging the image of electronic ballasts. It was not until the late 1990s that the production level developed rapidly and improved. From circuit design to electronic components, the maturity stage has entered a relatively mature stage. For high-strength gas discharge lamp electronic ballasts, although many units and individuals in China have seen the huge business opportunities faced by electronic ballasts, they are rushing to invest a lot of manpower and material resources to develop, develop and produce electronic ballasts. There are very few devices that can really enter the mature stage. So, what kind of status is the electronic ballast now? Here, some personal opinions on the development status of electronic ballasts and the choices in use are discussed.
1. Compared with magnetic ballasts, the advantages of electronic ballasts are obvious.
1. Significant energy saving effect
Mainly in the following four aspects:
a. After the lamp (bubble) is operated with high frequency or low frequency square wave current, the luminous efficiency of the system is greatly improved. Under the same conditions, to obtain the same illuminance, compared with the traditional magnetic ballast, the input power of the electronic ballast can be reduced by more than 10%.
b. The loss of the electronic ballast itself is small. The better 400W electronic ballasts on the market can achieve an efficiency of over 93%.
c, high power factor, up to 0.99.
d, the output lamp power is stable, the better electronic ballast on the market, when the power supply voltage input changes by ±15%, the output lamp power variation is less than 3%, which will not cause the bulb to be overloaded for a short time, but shorten the lamp life and avoid the The necessary waste.
2, save resources
The production of magnetic ballasts requires the consumption of a large number of silicon steel sheets and enameled wires, while electronic ballasts can greatly reduce resource losses. Taking a 400W metal halide lamp (CWA ballast) as an example, it requires 2.0 kg of copper and 4.0 kg of silicon steel sheet. With an electronic ballast, only about 0.4 kg of copper is needed, and no silicon steel sheet is needed.
3, lighting parameters are superior
Electronic ballasts have superior lighting parameters than magnetic ballasts for better lighting. The output lamp power is constant, the circuit design can make the input power supply voltage change in a wide range of 120--265V, and the output lamp power variation is <3%. For the occasion that the power supply quality is not high and the power supply voltage fluctuates greatly, the electronic ballast The device will show its advantages. During the startup process, the lamp voltage gradually rises, the lamp current gradually decreases, and the lamp power increases as the lamp voltage increases. When the lamp power reaches the rated power value, the lamp power does not substantially change with the lamp voltage change. That is, the lamp power remains unchanged, and since the lamp output power is constant, there may be:
1. The power of the lighting is constant, so that the consistency of the color parameters of the bulb is better.
2. The gas discharge light source has a negative resistance working characteristic, especially in the later stage of its life, the bulb (tube) tube pressure will gradually increase. At this time, the output characteristics of the magnetic ballast are basically constant current output, and the lamp current changes. Rarely, the lamp power is increased (this will accelerate the aging of the lamp), which in turn will increase the lamp (tube) tube voltage, and this will cause the bulb (tube) to end quickly.
4, with automatic protection
The lighting circuit of the high-pressure gas discharge lamp generally adopts high-voltage starting, some of the bulbs have poor starting characteristics, or it is difficult to start after a certain period of time, especially in the case of hot start, the traditional lighting circuit is very easy to generate glow arc discharge. This will not enter the arc discharge process for a long time, which will damage the electrodes inside the arc tube and shorten the life of the bulb.
