Introduction to the Standards for Technical Requirements of Pipeline Valves

GB/T 19672-2005 was revised and adopted ISO14313:1999 "oil and gas industry; pipeline transportation system; pipeline valve" / API 6D: 2002 "pipeline valve". The standard specifies the terms, structural types and parameters, ordering requirements, technical requirements, materials, inspection rules, test methods, markings, etc. for flanged and welded-connected gate valves, ball valves, check valves and plug valves. Suitable for gate valves, ball valves, check valves and plug valves for natural gas and oil transmission pipelines with nominal pressures PN16~PN420 and nominal sizes DN15~DN1200.
The main differences between GB/T 19672 and ISO 14313/API 6D are as follows:
(1) The standard writing format is different from the ISO/API standard according to the requirements of GB/T 1.1-2000.
(2) Part of the terminology and definitions in international standards.
(3) The nominal pressures PN16, PN25, and PN40 have been added.
(4) Revised the content of the ordering requirements.
(5) Increased structural length dimensions greater than DN1000 ball valves.
(6) The requirement of the valve housing connecting bolt thread is increased.
(7) According to the requirements of China's laws and regulations, the requirements for welding and inspection.
(8) The inspection rules for valves are specified.
Description of the main technical contents of GB/T 19672:
(1) The term explains the full-diameter valve, the reduced-diameter valve, the constricted valve, the one-way valve, the two-way valve, and the locking device. In order to accurately use the relevant requirements of the standard.
(2) The structure gives the typical structure and connection form of the gate valve, ball valve, plug valve and check valve used in the long-distance pipeline.
(3) Pressure-temperature class The housing material used for the valve complies with the provisions of GB 9131, and the standard applies the pressure-temperature reference of GB 9131.
(4) Structure length The structural length of the foreign pipeline valves is connected to the structural length requirements of API 6D, and the standard is also according to the structural length of API 6D, so that the valves are interchangeable. There is a requirement for the structural length of the valve with one end welded and the other end flanged.
(5) The indication of the diameter refers to the representation of the diameter of the API 6D, and the representation method of the nominal size of the valve and the actual passage diameter is defined. To facilitate the distinction: full-diameter valves, reduced-diameter valves, and shrink-over valves clearly indicate the nominal size of the valve (same as the pipe) and the actual channel diameter.
(6) Minimum diameter and channel shape For the cleaning and dredging requirements of long-distance pipelines, refer to API 6D to list the minimum passage of the valve and specify the section shape of the passage.

(7) Structural requirements specify the structure that affects the performance of the long-distance pipeline valve and the operational requirements. The operating torque and operating performance requirements of the pipeline valve are specified.
(8) The materials listed commonly used valve housing materials, anti-corrosion treatment measures and hardness requirements. Valve welding and repair welding requirements. (9) Test Refer to API 6D for the inspection contents, test requirements, dwell time and test methods of various types of valves.
The standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Valve Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC188). Implementation began on August 1, 2005.
