Russia's power export plan to China is about to be implemented

According to Xinhua News Agency, Moscow, Russian Prime Minister Fradkov commissioned the Russian unified power system company on the 6th to draft a power export plan for China. This indicates that Russia's power exports to China are expected to enter the implementation phase in the near future.
Russia’s President of Uni-President Power Systems Chubais said that China’s electricity imports to Russia will reach 50 to 60 billion kWh per year, while Russia’s Far East currently has an annual power generation of only 32 billion kWh. If the power export plan for China can be successfully implemented, it will certainly promote the construction of power stations in the Russian Far East.
Chubais pointed out that Russia's unified power system company hopes to reach an agreement with China on the export price of China's power supply at the end of this year, after which the company can draft a specific plan for China's power export.
The Russian media has previously reported that the Breya hydropower station on the tributary of the Amur River in the Russian Far East will become Russia's power export base to China. The power station was the last large-scale hydropower construction project in the former Soviet Union. Construction began in 1976. In 1985, the project was frozen due to lack of funds. The Russian Unified Power System Company resumed the construction of the hydropower station in 2000. The hydropower station is designed to have an installed capacity of 2,000 megawatts and is planned to be installed with six units. At present, Unit 4 has also been basically completed. Russia hopes to build the last two units of the Brea Hydropower Station into operation in the next two years by attracting Chinese loans.
After Russia and China reached an agreement on the price of electricity exports, Russia is also preparing to build the Lower Breya Hydropower Station. The total investment of the hydropower station will reach 440 million US dollars. Russia also hopes that China will participate in the construction of this hydropower station.
