New high voltage MOSFETs efficiently support large and small power applications

Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX/OTCQX: IFNNY) has broadened its CoolMOS® product line with the introduction of the 600V CoolMOS® P7 and 600V CoolMOS® C7Gold (G7) series. These new families offer breakdown voltages up to 600V, enhancing super-junction MOSFET performance and delivering exceptional power density for a wide range of applications. The 600V CoolMOS P7 is designed for high efficiency and ease of use, offering an improved cost-performance ratio that simplifies design processes. It’s ideal for applications like chargers, adapters, lighting systems, TVs, PC power supplies, solar inverters, servers, telecom equipment, and EV charging stations, supporting power levels from 100W to 15kW. In various topologies, this device can boost system efficiency by 1.5% and reduce operating temperatures by up to 4.2°C compared to competitive solutions. Available in both surface mount (SMD) and through-hole packages, the P7 features on-resistance (RDS(on)) ranging from 37mΩ to 600mΩ, making it suitable for a broad range of power applications. Its robust static protection of over 2kV (HBM) ensures reliability during manufacturing, while rugged body diodes provide additional protection during hard commutation events in LLC circuits. The 600V CoolMOS C7Gold (G7) brings advanced performance to an innovative leadless SMD TO package. It offers low RDS(on), minimal gate charge QG, reduced output capacitor energy, and a 4-pin Kelvin source configuration, which minimizes losses in PFC and LLC circuits. This results in a 0.6% performance improvement and higher full-load efficiency in PFC applications. The G7 also boasts a very low source parasitic inductance of just 1nH, further boosting efficiency. Packaged in a leadless TO format, the G7 enhances thermal performance for high-current designs and reduces installation costs via SMD technology. With industry-leading RDS(on) values ranging from 28mΩ to 150mΩ, it significantly reduces footprint, height, and board space by 30%, 50%, and 60% respectively when compared to traditional D2PAK packages. These advantages make the G7 an excellent choice for high-efficiency, high-power-density applications such as servers, telecommunications, industrial systems, and solar energy. Both the 600V CoolMOS P7 and 600V CoolMOS C7Gold series are now in mass production and available for purchase.
